August 19, 2019

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident about a house watch while they are on vacation.
  • An officer spoke to the Madrid Public Works Director about damage at Edgewood Park. Several names were given that could have been involved.
  • An officer received a request for a past accident report from an insurance company. The officer filled the request after receiving payment from the adjustor.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident about a scam call dealing with Social Security.
  • An officer spoke to several Madrid residents about mowing yards, debris in yards and junk vehicles in the final push for cleaning up prior to the Labor Day celebrations.
  • An officer was dispatched to a retail store for a possible accident in the parking lot. The officer arrived, inspected both vehicles and found nothing on them that appeared to be new damage. The officer did a call for service.
  • An officer responded to the 600 block of S. Kennedy Avenue for a burglary report.

August 20, 2019

  • An officer was dispatched to two dogs running at large in the 500 block of S. Market Street. The officer arrived and detained the two animals until the owner could arrive and pick them up.
  • An officer received a complaint from a landlord about a vehicle parked on city property on E. Eighth 8th Street. The officer will speak to the owner about parking there and blocking turning traffic into the property.
  • An officer received a complaint from a downtown business owner about two vehicles parked in the 100 block of S. Water Street. One has been parked there for months, and one has a bad transmission. The officer tagged both vehicles for removal in advance of the annual Labor Day celebration.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call in the 400 block of N. Water Street.
  • An officer responded to 900 block of S. Kennedy Avenue for a follow-up investigation.
  • An officer received a request for a past report. The officer mailed the report to the requesting agency.
  • An officer took a report of an item that was delivered to an address in the 100 block of N. Kennedy Avenue but taken before the resident could retrieve it. The resident called back later in the night and said the item was found and returned unopened to his address.

August 21, 2019

  • An officer spoke to two Madrid residents who reported they received back-to-back calls from people claiming to be with Social Security. Neither resident gave out any personal information. Madrid residents are reminded the IRS, Social Security and other federal agencies will not call for information. If you get a call like this, it is a scam. Do not give them any personal information and just hang up.
  • An officer responded to a vehicle un-lock at the Madrid Elementary School.
  • An officer took a theft report from the 900 block of S. Kennedy Avenue.

August 22, 2019

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident about an on-going civil issue.
  • An officer was called to a retail store for a dog running at large. The officer located the owner. and she picked up the animal.
  • An officer spoke to the Boone County Emergency Management Coordinator about the storm siren system.

August 23, 2019

  • An officer assisted with traffic control around road construction near the Madrid Elementary School on the first day of school.
  • An officer was called to a two-vehicle accident at Eighth Street and S. Kennedy Avenue. A vehicle driven by Wesley Steele of Boone rear-ended a vehicle driven by Buddy Petersen of Madrid as Petersen was traveling southbound and waiting for turning traffic. No injuries were reported.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who asked for extra patrol after receiving threatening messages. It appeared to be a scam message.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call.

August 24, 2019

  • An officer assisted resident in the 2000 block of Rose Road in locating a lost dog. The dog was found by a neighbor and returned to the owner.
  • An officer responded to the Madrid Home for an emergent medical call. The officer assisted the Boone County EMS.
  • An officer explained to a citizen how to report criminal activity in another jurisdiction.
  • An officer responded to a complaint of someone riding a minibike on the roadway at 4 a.m. The rider was determined to be a juvenile. The officer made contact with the parent, who handled discipline on the matter.

August 25, 2019

  • An officer received a phone call from a concerned citizen that a retail store had the lights on inside and was locked up. While on the phone with the corporate home office, the store manager arrived and advised an employee was a no-call, no-show.
  • An officer performed a welfare check on an adult female who did not show up for work and could not be contacted. The employer got a hold of her by phone, and everything was okay.
  • An officer returned a phone about an old trespass order.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
