December 5, 2016

  • An officer followed up on several burglary/theft cases from over the weekend.
  • An officer worked with the juvenile court services on a case.
  • An officer attempted to locate someone from Madrid to question in an ongoing case.
  • Officers went to Des Moines to interview a juvenile who was believed to be involved in crimes in Madrid over the weekend where officers located the juvenile. He was charged with first-degree theft of a motor vehicle along with several aggravated vehicle burglaries. He was also charged in Polk County for third-degree theft-possession of stolen property, carrying a concealed handgun, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was taken to Meyer Hall and held. Madrid officers recovered the stolen hand gun and the stolen vehicle that were taken from town in the early morning on Saturday. An officer returned the stolen vehicle to its rightful owner.

December 6, 2016

  • An officer followed up and returned phone calls to someone wanted in questioning on a case and set up an interview for Thursday.
  • An officer received a report of a runaway 15-year-old female. The officer entered her as missing after investigating all local leads with local businesses and the school.
  • An officer arrested Joby Bennett for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was cited and released from the Madrid Police Department.
  • An officer followed up with several victims regarding reported burglaries for additional charges.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for someone in Casey’s parking lot.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a male harassing her and her family via an electronic device. An officer made contact with the person and explained issuing an harassment warning before charges are sought.
  • An officer spoke to an individual regarding a civil issue with roommates moving out of a shared property. Officer advised the person to seek the advice of a civil attorney.

December 7, 2016

  • An officer attempted to locate a stray dog in the 400 block of E. First Street. The officer was unable to locate.
  • An officer received a complaint regarding harassment. The caller was referred to the Boone County Sheriff’s office.
  • An officer responded to the Madrid Elementary School for a 9-year-old female having difficulty breathing. The officer assisted paramedics and the patient was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
  • An officer followed up on several more burglary reports that took place over the past weekend. The officer finished with multiple other charges for the subjects who are in custody.

December 8, 2016

  • An officer unlocked a vehicle at Git N’ Go.
  • An officer followed up with the Madrid City Attorney for information.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle at Casey’s.
  • An officer followed up with a fraud case now that the suspect is out of jail.
  • An officer was called to Casey’s for two suspicious males. The officer did not find the suspicious males.
  • An officer was called to the cemetery regarding a man sleeping in his car. The officer checked on him, and everything checked out okay.

December 9, 2016

  • An officer responded to an alarm in the 300 block of N. Main Street.
  • An officer assisted unlocked a vehicle.
  • An officer assisted in finding a missing 7-year-old child.

December 10, 2016

  • An officer assisted a Boone County Deputy Sheriff with an OWI investigation.
  • An officer spoke with a couple regarding their runaway teenager. The officer assisted them in getting the appropriate paperwork to get cell phone records.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation and determined the infraction stemmed from a mechanical fault with the vehicle. The officer assisted the driver with fixing the issue.

December 11, 2016

  • An officer spoke with someone regarding harassing calls from a woman in Boone. The officer asked the Boone Police Department to make contact with the female in order to issue a harassment warning.
  • An officer followed up with a runaway teen’s parents.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
