January 8, 2018

  • An officer was informed by a Madrid resident of a low-hanging line at Eighth and State streets. The officer had the Madrid Street Department check on it, and it turned out to be a cable line. The officer will leave a business card on the owner’s residence.
  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 100 block of S. Union Street.
  • An officer checked on a vehicle that had been served a notice last week to be moved off the roadway at First and Walnut streets. The vehicle had been removed.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a civil issue dealing with property.
  • An officer assisted with a civil property exchange.
  • An officer assisted a resident with a vehicle that was left running inside a repair facility.
  • An officer checked on a suspicious vehicle in the 700 block of W. North Street. The out-of-state driver stopped to use the navigation system before continuing to Des Moines. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for someone in the 100 block of N. Locust Street.

January 9, 2018

  • An officer was called to the 600 block of W. Fifth Street for a verbal argument. One of the parties had already left upon the officer’s arrival and was seen riding his bike back to Boone along Iowa Highway 17 shortly thereafter.
  • An officer spoke to city officials about a theft-of-water case.
  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street.
  • An officer fingerprinted two Madrid residents for job-related background checks.
  • An officer assisted the local Cub Scout Troop with answering questions related to public safety and policing.
  • An officer received a found item left at a business. The officer will attempt to find the owner and return the item.

January 10, 2018

  • An officer received a complaint about an open door at a property in the 300 block of N. Main Street.
  • An officer spoke with a Madrid resident regarding a civil issue between family members.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of N. Kennedy Street and warned the driver for improper headlamps.
  • An officer received a call about a suspicious person in the area of Fifth and Main streets who was in the backyard of a residence and banged on their rear door before running away.

January 11, 2018

  • An officer assisted a Madrid resident with jump starting a vehicle.
  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 200 block of S. Main Street.
  • An officer was dispatched to the Madrid Elementary School for an alarm. Everything checked out oaky.
  • An officer assisted a Madrid resident on Locust Street when the doors froze shut on a vehicle.

January 12, 2018

  • An officer tagged vehicles that had not been removed from the first two snow removals for tow.
  • An officer received a complaint about a Madrid resident having one of her foster dogs run from her home.

January 13, 2018

  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for a resident in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street.
  • An officer spoke to several persons regarding a lost dog.
  • An officer responded to a report of a fight at the Green Street apartments. The two males involved did not wish to pursue charges.
  • An officer responded to a local tavern regarding a male beating on a car window and yelling at the occupant. The suspect and victim were located, but the argument had subsided. The officer issued the male a warning for disorderly conduct and advised him to call it a night.

  • An officer delivered items to newspaper publisher.
  • An officer spoke to a resident about an accident report.
  • An officer fingerprinted a resident for an employment background check.
  • An officer spoke to a resident about a civil matter involving a gift.
  • An officer spoke to a resident in the 400 block of N. Kennedy Street about barking dogs.
  • An officer received a call regarding a question on a property dispute. The officer advised the caller of the civil issue.
  • An officer received a call for a welfare check on a person in Madrid. It was determined the person returned home safely.
  • An officer spoke to an individual regarding a dispute over a cell phone. The individual agreed to take the cell phone back to the owner.
