October 21, 2019

  • An officer forwarded arrest information on two local juveniles charged with curfew violations to juvenile court services.
  • An officer had a meeting with the Madrid City Attorney, went over a records request and sent out a second response after a Madrid resident requested additional information.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid Elementary School staff with teaching ALICE/Stranger Danger awareness and safety to all ages at the school.
  • An officer assisted Madrid High School Staff with a student who left the grounds. The officer located the juvenile and returned him to the school.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who received a call on his cell phone, threatening him about an arrest warrant. The number that came up on his cell phone was the actual number of the police department, which was added on the computer by the scammer. Reminder: If you have a warrant out for your arrest, the Madrid Police Department will not call and warn you or ask you to send money to an overseas account to clear it.
  • An officer returned a phone call regarding a found wallet. The officer arranged for the owner to pick up the item. The wallet was returned to the owner.
  • An officer returned a phone call regarding a person who wished to have an ex-boyfriend advised not to come to her residence. The officer called the ex-boyfriend and made him aware.
  • An officer provided a vehicle unlock in front of the laundromat.
  • An officer returned a phone call to a resident regarding harassment and advised that the matter was a civil issue.

October 22, 2019

  • An officer had a phone meeting with the Emergency Management Coordinator about reference upcoming training.
  • An officer received two calls from Madrid residents who made complaints about receiving scam phone calls. One scammer claimed they won a large sum of money in the lottery, and another claimed to be Social Security. Reminder: Never give your personal information out to strangers over the phone.
  • An officer responded to the Madrid Public Library for a juvenile dispute. The dispute was resolved.

October 23, 2019

  • An officer assisted the Madrid Fire Department with several safety classes at the Madrid Elementary School and at local day care services.
  • An officer was called to the 200 block of S. State Street for an unsafe building. The Madrid Public Works Director was also informed, and the property owner was contacted.
  • An officer ran a background check for a federal agent.
  • An officer was dispatched to the Madrid Clinic for a couple arguing. The officer made contact with the couple, who admitted to yelling profanities at each other. The young couple hugged and apologized for making a scene in public.

October 24, 2019

  • An officer called in an ATV affidavit for a trade-in from a dealer.
  • An officer responded to 800 block of E. Eighth Street  to provide lift assistance to the Boone County EMS.

October 25, 2019

  • An officer responded to the Madrid Elementary School for a dog bite. The dog had a current rabies vaccination, and the incident was turned over to Boone County Humane Society for follow-up.
  • An officer provided a funeral escort for the Iles Funeral Home.
  • An officer assisted rescue and ambulance with a combative resident at the Madrid Home.
  • An officer took a report of a barking dog on N. State Street.

October 26, 2019

  • An officer received several drop-offs for the Drug Drop-Off program. The officer visited with a DEA agent regarding the success of the program.
  • An officer assisted Polk County Sheriff’s office with attempting to contact the owner of a vehicle involved in a crash near Polk City. The officer made contact with the male by phone and advised him to contact Polk County.
  • An officer issued a parking violation warning on Maple Ridge Drive.
  • Officers took four reports of stolen vehicles in town after two males stole a car from rural Dallas County and came to Madrid to commit multiple car burglaries and thefts. The suspects were caught after a pursuit ending near Granger. Several agencies are compiling charges at this time.

October 27, 2019

  • An officer responded to the City State Bank for an alarm. Everything was okay. The false alarm was tripped by the cleaning crew, who didn’t have the proper code.
  • A Madrid resident reported that a young boy showed up at his residence who didn’t know where his home was. An officer spoke with child and took him home and spoke with parents.
  • An officer took a report of stolen money from their vehicle in relation to previous evening’s activities.
  • An officer took a report of a stolen backpack in relation to last night’s events.
  • An officer checked on 911 hang-up calls. Everything appeared to be okay.
  • An officer took a report of a dog bite on E. First Street. The officer took all relevant info and turned it over to the Boone County Humane Society.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
