Man faces kidnapping, sexual abuse charges in Panorama case

Michael Mackenzie Taylor, 34, was charged Thursday with first-degree kidnapping, third-degree sexual abuse, assault with intent to inflict serious injury, false imprisonment, first-degree harassment, interference with official acts and obstruction of emergency communications.

A man was arrested Thursday morning at Lake Panorama after deputies from the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office responded to report of a domestic disturbance shortly after midnight at a Lake Panorama residence and found a female victim.

Michael Mackenzie Taylor, 34, was arrested about 9 a.m. after an investigation and charged with first-degree kidnapping, third-degree sexual abuse, assault with intent to inflict serious injury, false imprisonment, first-degree harassment, interference with official acts and obstruction of emergency communications.

Taylor was taken into custody near the scene of the disturbance and transported to the Guthrie County Jail, according to Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright.

Taylor is being held on a $1 million cash-only bond pending a March 15 preliminary hearing.

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office was assisted in the incident by Lake Panorama Security, Panora Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Transportation-Motor Vehicle Enforcement.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
