A man was taken into custody without incident by law enforcement about 10:30 p.m. Friday night at the Red Carpet Inn near Bouton.
A Dallas County Deputy Sheriff’s radio communications about 10:15 p.m. indicated he made telephone contact with the man inside the motel, who was intoxicated and threatened to fight whoever entered his room, according to the deputy’s radio traffic.
The deputy called for back-up assistance, and an officer of the Perry Police Department and two additional deputy sheriffs responded within minutes.
The man in the hotel appeared to submit without resistance, and he was escorted to a patrol vehicle without incident.
Emergency medical services were not paged.
It is unknown whether the man was placed under arrest or taken into custody for another reason. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office said it would have no comment until Monday.
