Manhunt for Marshalltown murderer launched Monday

Law enforcement is seeking the public's help in locating the person who shot and killed a man at a Casey's store early Monday in Marshalltown.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Law enforcement is seeking the public’s help in locating the person who shot and killed a man at a Casey’s store here early Monday.

Officers of the Marshalltown Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the Casey’s at 111 N. Third Ave. shortly after 3 a.m.

The officers found an adult male who had been shot and later died.

A male was seen leaving the area, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. The suspect is possibly a Latino male with an accent and is described as being short in stature.

No other information about the suspect is known at this time. Information about the victim is being withheld pending family notifications.

Law enforcement is investigating the circumstances that led to this shooting. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Marshalltown Police Department. The Marshall County Sheriff’s office, Marshalltown Fire Department and Unity Point Ambulance Service all responded to the initial 911 calls for this incident.

This is an active investigation. A suspect has not been identified or located. Law enforcement encourages community members to be alert for suspicious activity and to report concerns immediately by calling 911.
