Martha “Marti” Reed, 70, of Perry passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 31 from 4-7 p.m. at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home-Perry Chapel.
Marti was born in Winterset, Iowa, on May 17, 1954, the daughter of Clarence and Leona (Cutshall) Smith.
She lived the majority of her life in Perry.
Marti married Randy Reed on June 2, 1972, in Van Meter and welcomed two children, David and Tracy.
Marti’s passion was family history, and she was known as the “family history nut.” She loved digging into the family tree and putting on family reunions each year.
She loved her family, fur babies and grand fur babies with all her heart.
Marti enjoyed reading, having a garden, canning and attending scrapbook events with her daughter.
Marti will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Randy of Perry; son, David Reed of Perry; daughter, Tracy (Mike) Murphy of Perry; her dog, Mollie, and grand puppies, Maggie, Otto and Bella; sister, Grace Cooley of Des. Moines; and other extended family and friends, who will miss her dearly.
Marti was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Leona Smith; sister, Marcia Lawrence; brothers, Dwayne Rogers and Terry Smith; grand puppy, Maddie; and other extended family and friends.
