Mary Sutherland, 74, of Johnston passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Mary Janine Sutherland was born Aug. 27, 1948, in Denison, Iowa, to Hubert John and Marie Josephe (Delga) Lind.
She graduated from St. Patrick Catholic School in Perry and then enrolled in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp.
When Mary returned from the Army, she went to the Mercy Nursing School.
She was united in marriage to Ronald Sutherland in Denver, Colorado, on March 4, 1970.
Mary worked for many years at the Woodward Resource Center.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Mary enjoyed reading, embroidery, crocheting and collecting mice.
In death she rejoins her parents, Hubert and Marie Lind; sister, Jeannette Ann Lind; brother, James Lind; and a grandson, Drew Jacobson.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her children, David (Andrea) Sutherland, Nina (Jeff Mount) Sutherland and Ronald Sutherland; grandchildren, Keegan Sutherland, Riley Jacobson, Bryce Sutherland, Caleb Sutherland, Ean Sutherland and Feylin Sutherland; three brothers, Philip (Linda) Lind, Bob Lind and Michael (Lila) Lind; a sister, Susan (Dave) Waters; sister-in-law, Mary Lind; and numerous nieces and nephews.
