The Des Moines office of the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until midnight Monday, Dec. 31.
Periods of mixed snow and sleet in the the late afternoon will give way to freezing drizzle at night. Snow accumulations will generally be less than one inch, and ice accumulations of a light glaze are predicted across portions of southern, central and eastern Iowa.
Travelers should plan on slippery road conditions at times. The hazardous conditions could impact New Year’s Eve travel.
