Pamela Jean McAllister, 64, of Perry passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at the Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Pam was born Aug. 17, 1959, to Francis Edwin Cox and Shirley Ann (Lennie) Cox.

Pam grew up in Perry and spent her life in and around the area.

In 1981 she married Irvin (Gene) and together they welcomed their daughter, Sami, in 1988.

Pam and Gene enjoyed fishing, painting and spending time with friends and family.

Pam was a professional painter, working alongside her husband and in her mother’s cafe along with various other restaurants through the years.

In the early ’90s, she began working for Abilities Unlimited Inc. where she took pride in helping and supporting adults with disabilities.

Upon retirement, Pam embraced her passions for fishing, rock hunting and crafting.

When Pam wasn’t spending time with her grandkids and family, she would be socializing with her friends. She enjoyed playing darts, cribbage and showing off her fishing skills to anyone who would join her.

Spending time with those she loved was what brought her the most joy. She was a true child at heart and always knew how to have a good time.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin Eugene McAllister Sr.; her step-sons, Irvin Eugene McAllister Jr. and George McAllister; her step-daughter, Danyel Hardisty; and her sisters, Donna Meyer, Lynn Horrigan, Katheryn Miers and Carolyn Hawbaker.

Left to cherish Pam’s memory are her daughter, Sami Keuck; her step-children, Mary (Bob) Laborde, Sherry Jones, Terry (Wade) Schulte, Richard (Michelle) McAllister, Adrian (Andrew) Horsley and Amanda Holste-Strayer; her sisters, Rose Kruse and Patty (Billy) Devilbiss; her brother, Jim (Diane) Cox; her best friend, Kristine Hardisty; grandsons, Eli, Sven, and Otto Keuck; and many step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and countless friends.

A visitation for Pam will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home-Perry Chapel. A funeral ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. the following day also at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at the Valleyview Cemetery in rural Perry, Iowa, at a later date.
