PLEASANTVILLE — Wins in both of their contests Thursday will send the Panorama wrestlers into Saturday’s AC/GC Invitational with plenty of confidence. Panorama topped Pleasantville, 34-26, before making quick work of Lynnville-Sully, 63-12.
The win over the host Trojans came despite Panther grapplers having to face four ranked matmen on their home mat. Both teams left the 106 and 113 pound slots open, with Panorama surrendering six points at 170 while receiving a total of 12 points as Pleasantville left 132 open to No. 7 George Appleseth and 120 open to Danny Nordquist. Forfeits aside, Panorama proved to be two points better than their hosts.
Noah Kirtley’s pin of Alex Bartels at 126 pounds in 3 minutes, 14 seconds began the dual, with Kaleb Stogdill pinning Wyatt Clark in 1:25 at 145.
Tyler Van Houten scored a 6-0 decision over No. 6 Sawyer Phillips, but the hosts turned the tables at 160 when ninth-ranked Griffen McBride blanked Gunnar Grunsted, 3-0.
Trevor Carey recorded an 11-4 decision against Austin Flesher at 182, with Dalton Holmes posting an 8-0 major decision at 195 over Daniel Kenyon.
Pleasantville’s 220 and 285 grapplers, both ranked fifth at their respective weights, won by technicall fall and fall to leave the hosts facing a 28-26 hole. The double forfeits at 106 and 113 followed, with six points to Nordquist in the forfeit at 120 ending the dual.
The dual against the Hawks featured only five contested matches, with the Panthers winning four.
Stogdill was a 6-4 victor against Carson Dunsbergen, with Van Houten pinning Cayden Johnson in 5:15 while Grunsted — wrestling up at 170 — pinned Bryson Barnett in 1:36 and Kirtley stuck Ty Breeden in 3:16.
Appleseth, Ondrej Komora (at 160), Carey, Holmes, Brady Howard (220) and Dan Jensen (285) all collected wins by forfeit.
