GOWRIE — Wins over West Central Valley and host Southeast Valley surrounded a loss to Eagle Grove for the Panorama wrestlers Thursday as the Panther matmen participated in a four-team meet at SEV.
The Panthers opened their competition with a 55-18 win over WCV before suffering a 41-30 loss to Eagle Grove before Panorama won a 43-42 victory on a tiebreaker against the hosts.
In other duals it was Eagle Grove topping SE Valley, 48-33, with SE Valley topping WCV, 42-39. No report was available on the outcome of Eagle Grove’s dual with WCV.
Tyler Van Houten and Gunnar Grunsted were both 3-0 for Panorama. Van Houten recorded three pinfalls at 152 pounds to finish unblemished, with Grunsted scoring a pin at 170 against WCV, a 3-2 decision against Eagle Grove at 160 and a pin at 160 against SE Valley.
Ondrej Komora was given a forfeit at 160 against WCV, with the Panthers leaving 170 open in their final two duals.
Also collecting a trio of victories for Panorama were George Appleseth (132 pounds) and Dalton Holmes (195), both of whom received one win via forfeit. Appleseth also notched wins with a major decision and a pin, with Holmes winning by decision and by pin.
Danny Nordquist was 2-1 at 120 with a pair of victories by pin, with Kyler Fisher 2-1 at 182 with two pinfall victories as well while both Kaleb Stogdill (145) and Brady Howard (220) finished 2-1 with a win by pin and a forfeit.
Also collecting wins for the Panthers was 138-pounder Noah Kirtley, who won a decision, while heavyweight Dan Jensen earned a win with a pin.
Panorama left the 106, 113 and 126-pound divisions open in all three duals.
The Panther grapplers will compete Saturday in the Coon Rapids-Bayard Invitational before joining East Union and Martensdale-St. Marys for a quadrangular at Southwest Valley Thursday. Panorama will then visit Perry for the Bluejay Invitational Jan. 14.
