PANORA — Panorama senior Madi Fear carded a 52-52-104 Wednesday at Lake Panorama National to finish the Class 2A State Golf Tourney at 111-104–215, 52nd in a 75-player competition.

Fear made her final round alongside Faith Pearson of Okoboji (117-115-232), Jenna Ward of Columbus Catholic (125-126–251) and Cori Franken of Unity Christian (129-123–252).

Morgan Weber of Dike-New Hartford shot 75-73–148 to finish four-over par in winning the girls crown. Her schoolmate, Bo Weissenfhus, won the boys 2A title Friday, edging Panorama sophomore Kolby Shackelford by a stroke.

Bailee Frayne of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura shot 79-81–160 for second while Annika Patton of Alta-Aurelia — who led Frayne by a stroke after Tuesday’s round — carded a 78-83–161 to finish third.

Van Meter won the team title at 733, but had to hold on as hard-charging New Hampton made up 11 strokes to finish second at 736, just shy of overtaking the Bulldogs. Okoboji was third at 747.

Fear, a senior, may play in the state coed tourney next week; otherwise her strong prep career will have ended on her home course. Melissa Hochstetler coaches the Panther girls.
