Patricia “Patti” Wenz, 81, of Perry passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 5 from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.

Patti was born Oct. 22, 1941, to Eugene and Mabel (Carpenter) Pommer. Since she was their only child, Patti enjoyed spending time with her cousins.

She graduated from Perry High School in May 1960. For a few years she worked as an Avon representative.

Patti had a strong faith in the Bible, and she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 24, 1959. For the rest of her life, she shared with others the wonderful hope of a Paradise earth, when there will be no more sickness or death.

On Oct. 12, 1968, she was united in marriage to Windsor Lee Wenz from Kearney, Nebraska. The wedding was in Perry at the Kingdom Hall, and her reception was at the original Hotel Pattee. Fifty years later, it was nostalgic to also celebrate their Golden Anniversary at the beautifully renovated Hotel Pattee.

After living in Kearney for several years, Windsor took job transfers to Algona and Garner, Iowa, where she made many new friends. After his retirement in 1998, Patti got her wish to move back to her hometown of Perry. Then she enjoyed hosting “coffee breaks” for the relatives and Superbowl parties. Patti’s homes were enveloped with her beautiful landscaping, and her favorite flower: the red rose.

Her hobbies included collecting knickknacks, taking photographs and traveling. She loved the Caribbean, but even a trip to an apple orchard made her happy.

Patti loved cats. In her eyes, they could do no wrong. Ricky and Luna will be missing her.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Windsor; and many cousins; nieces; and nephews, who will miss her greatly.

Memorials will be given to her family for later designation and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
