With contract negotiations underway, the Perry Education Association (PEA) union has organized a Support Perry Teachers! event to take place at next Monday’s meeting of the Perry Community School District Board of Directors.
A Facebook post announced the event Wednesday night:
Perry residents: our teachers and students need your support. Come to the school board meeting on Monday, April 8 at 6:00 pm in the high school library. We are asking the board and Superintendent Wicks to keep our master contract. Our Perry students deserve the best and with almost no items left in our contract, it will be difficult to retain and attract the kind of teachers our students deserve.
The post asks parents or other district residents interested in speaking at the meeting to message Jenn Nelson or Allisa Bahney.
The school board will meet Monday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in the Brady Library at Perry High School, 1200 18th St. in Perry. The meetings are open to the public.
