The Perry Academic Decathlon team, fresh off a Small School Division second-place finish in Des Moines, has learned they have qualified for the state competition.
Perry will be one of 24 teams vying for honors March 4-5 in Mason City.
Team members include Jose Chavez, Lucas Davis, Bryce Eastman, Jefry Gonzalez, Alia Ikhasanova, Molly Moorhead, Ashley Robles and Caroline Robles.
Students must give an interview and present a prepared speech in addition to making an improvised speech. They are tested on math, science, social science, music, art, literature and economics and also compete in a quiz bowl.
Teresa Kresse and Lisa Schumacher are the team coaches.
