Shiny, new playground equipment is rising on the grounds of the Perry Elementary School as work progresses on the $296,450 upgrade in March by the Perry School Board.
The project includes the purchase and installation of the playground equipment and the rubberized safety surface, with $24,000 for concrete, and $8,800 for a 550-foot black fence.
The equipment upgrade is part of the district’s Major Facility Projects Five-Year Plan. Funding for the project will come from the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) fund. The PPEL levy received 88% approval by school district voters in a 2016 special election.
Classes in the Perry Community School District begin Aug. 23.
