A medical emergency Thursday morning in a unit of the Bar-Jac Mobile Estates at 2801 First Ave. in Perry was complicated when a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff fell through the floor upon entering the residence.

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was summoned about noon to cut through a rear wall of the mobile home in order to permit safe entry to the responding agencies, including the Dallas County EMS, Perry Police Department and Perry First Responders.

“This wasn’t what I was expecting on my first day on the job,” said the manager of Bar-Jac Mobile Estates, who declined to identify himself but said he recently transferred to Perry from a mobile home community in Webster City.

Medical privacy laws prohibit the public release of the identity of the ailing trailer dweller.

“It’s a HIPAA thing,” said Dallas County Deputy Sheriff Clay Leonard. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 governs the use and disclosure of protected health information.
