December 9, 2016

  • A caller said “a customer stopped her and said there was a large amount of blood out front of the store.” The caller said she investigated and found “a pool of blood there and droplets going out into the parking lot.” An officer responded and determined the blood “to be from a hunter that had a deer in the back of a truck.”
  • Jacob Douglas Shaw, 26, 325 N. Market St., Madrid, was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • Danielle Elizabeth Shaw, 26, 1916 Frazier Ave., Des Moines, was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A caller said the employees of a local long-term care facility “believed that the sister of one of the residents provided them with a fake court document, saying that she was now his guardian.” An officer responded. Inquiries made with the Dallas County Attorney’s office revealed the document was authentic.
  • A caller said “a small child pulled the fire alarm.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said someone “went to his place of work” and began “calling him names and then asked him outside.” The man said “when he went outside,” the intruder “pushed and hit him, provoking him to fight.” The man said “he doesn’t want to press charges” but wants the intruder “talked to so that he leaves him alone and doesn’t cause problems at work.” An officer responded and made contact with the intruder, who said “he has had ongoing problems with” the man. The officer advised the intruder to leave the man alone “and if there are issues in the future, he was to call and let an officer assist in dealing with the issue.”

December 10, 2016

  • A caller said he saw “a man and a woman exit a vehicle” along Iowa Highway 141 in Perry, “put on backpacks and walk toward the entrance of the parking lot.” The caller said the pair “were standing along Highway 141 with a sign,” but it was “unknown what the sign says.” Officers responded and made contact with the man and woman, who said they were “from Des Moines and were trying to solicit gas money. They told officers that they were dropped off here, but they were in fact driving the vehicle” and “trying to get gas money to make it back to Des Moines. They were advised to leave the property.
  • A caller said “someone purchased tickets to a Broadway show using his wife’s credit card number.” An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
