December 16, 2016

  • Miguel Angel Ruedas of 1224 Fifth St. in Perry was issued a citation for first-offense open burning.
  • A caller said “he had a few sticks in a fire ring, and one of the kids threw in a fire truck. It was melting and smoking,” and he “didn’t want someone to call it in and trip the fire department.”
  • A caller said he lost his billfold in Des Moines.
  • A caller said a man “has fallen off his bicycle and hurt his hip.” An officer responded, and Perry First Responders were paged. The bicyclist refused medical treatment.
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital said they were treating “a patient who got bit by his own dog.” An officer responded and learned from the patient that “his dog, Nash, has its vaccinations and will bring proof of them into the police department.”
  • A caller reported “a dog that’s been chained outside in the back yard all day.” An officer responded.

December 17, 2016

  • Chad Michael Menz, 35, 1420 Evelyn St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A caller from a local retail store said a man was “sleeping in one of the booths.” The caller said the man “purchased two beers earlier, which are still sitting on the booth.” Officers responded and determined the man was from Phoenix, Ariz. The officers “requested contact be made with the Perry Ministerial Association to see if they could assist with a night’s lodging.” The man was transported to a local motel, and the Perry Ministerial Association was billed.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
