March 2, 2018

  • An officer of the Perry Police Department assisted the Dallas County Sheriff’s office in the arrest of Nicole Kay Palmer, 36, on two Dallas County warrants for failure to appear on original charges of possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine.
  • William Warren Lawrence, 46, 1114 1/2 Second St., #2, Perry, was arrested on two Dallas County warrants for probation violation and on a local charge of fifth-degree criminal mischief.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught a DARE class at the Perry Elementary School.

March 3, 2018

  • A caller “reported missing tools from her garage.” The caller said “her garage has been broken into before” An officer responded.
  • A caller her her dogs were lost.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department removed debris from the roadway.
  • Scott Robert Hansen, 43, 13838 120th St., Rippey, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.
  • A caller said “his neighbor was playing the music really loudly.” An officer responded and made contact with the noise makers.
  • A caller said “there were about six or seven kids in the street.” An officer responded but did not find the kids.
  • A caller said “there was large cattle in the middle of County Road P58.” The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A caller said someone “was banging on her door.” The caller said “she also heard a loud bang in the laundry room.” Officers responded but did not find the bangers.
  • A caller said “the bath has been running for a while next door and believes it is overflowing.” The caller said “she has a key but is scared to go in.” An officer responded and made contact with an occupant in the neighboring unit, who said “someone in her apartment was using the shower, and everything was fine.”

March 4, 2018

  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and asked to speak with an officer about a domestic situation. An officer responded.
  • A caller said she saw a male and a female in a vehicle on Iowa Highway 141, and the “male punched to female driver.” The caller said the “female pulled over,” and the caller was “not sure if they are still there.” Officers responded but did not find the vehicle with the male and female.
  • A caller said she was “scared” someone would be “waiting for her” at “the apartments.” She said “she is afraid he may not be stable.” An officer responded.
  • A wireless 911 caller “requested a welfare check on his ex-girlfriend.” Officers responded and “spoke with both parties. All okay.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he “ex” had “gotten into her Facebook and changed her information and would not stop calling and texting her.” She said “he was threatening to throw her stuff to the curb.” An officer responded and advised the woman “to change her phone number” and look into “obtaining an attorney for the civil issues.” The officer also gave the woman a card for Crisis Intervention and Advocacy.
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital had “questions regarding a patient who was in their emergency room at the time” and who “was a victim of sexual assault that occurred in Atlantic, Iowa, over the weekend.” An officer responded and put the caller in contact with the Atlantic Police Department and Cass County Sheriff’s office.

March 5, 2018

  • A caller said “her son had gotten a gift from his ex-fiancee’s mother for Christmas, and now his ex is wanting the gift back.” The caller “said that she would like to know what her options are.” An officer responded and said it “appeared as if” no laws had been broken but that the caller “could try to” it to “civil court if she wanted.”
  • Shawn Michael Kerby, 39, 998 Eastern Ave., Perry, was arrested on a U.S. Marshal service warrant for dangerous drugs and a local charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Corey Michael Hoover, 33, 809 William St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
  • A caller said “she recently broke up with her boyfriend,” and he “took her car keys and EBT card when he left and won’t return them.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said the neighbors “have several dogs they allow to run loose all the time.” An officer responded but did not find any dogs running loose.
  • A Perry Community School District bus driver reported “problems with a student riding the bus.” An officer responded and learned two students “had gotten into a fight,” and “the driver asked them to move to the front of the bus.” One of the children “complied,” but the other “did not. Perry School Transportation arrived and wanted to transport” the disobedient student “home,” but he “refused to move from his seat. Perry Transportation took” someone “home and stated they would be speaking to” someone.
  •  A caller said “she gave her landlord 30-day notice that she was leaving,” and the landlord has “been calling her and sending her harassing text messages.” An officer responded and “answered some civil questions concerning moving out,” and the landlord said the tenant “owes him back rent.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
