July 20, 2018

  • A caller said “his estranged wife” was “contacting him and harassing him.” An officer responded and advised the caller and the wife “to avoid contacting each other today.”
  • A caller said “someone broke into the athletic complex storage just north of the high school.” Officers “learned a baseball shed had been broken into, with multiple baseball bats taken.”
  • A caller said “her sister” was “at their mother’s home. She has been allowed to take what she wants and has no reason to be there now.” The caller “requested assistance.” An officer responded but the “sister had left.”
  • A caller said “her ex- took their children from his residence in Minnesota to Iowa,” and “they are reportedly in Perry for a funeral.” The caller “wanted to know what could be done and considered this kidnapping since he took the children across state lines.” The caller said “her local law enforcement advised her to contact her attorney.” An officer responded and told the caller the Perry Police Department “could not file kidnapping on her ex-husband.” The officer “advised her again to call her attorney.”
  • A caller said “someone dumped five bags of trash in their dumpster.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he “keeps getting voice recordings from the IRS warning of a warrant.” The caller was told “it’s a scam” and advised to “try and block the number.”
  • A caller said “her friend” has “been texting her, threatening suicide.” The caller said her friend “claims to have a knife,” but the caller “didn’t think” her friend “could be holding a knife and texting.” The caller said her friend also “claims to have broken her dad’s finger.”
  • A caller said “the neighbors to the south of her in a two-toned house have garbage and broken TVs in their yard.” The caller said “it has been that way all summer, and it smells.”
  • Francisco Colin-Castaneda was issued a citation for driving without a license.
  • Wilbut Lemus-Soriano, 25, was issued a citation for driving without a license.
  • Petra Romero, 53, of 1408 Evelyn St., Perry, was issued a citation for failure to yield from a yield sign.
  • A caller said she lost her cell phone.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “her 6-year-old son was pushed by a teacher at the elementary school.” An officer responded and “is looking into the matter.”
  • A caller said “his wife” and “her sister” were “attemtping to divide their mother’s property and not getting along.” An officer responded and learned the sisters “ended up coming to an agreement.”
  • A caller said her kitten was lost.
  • A caller said “he found a stray black kitten” and “thought it had a leg injury.” An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller “reported loud music around her area.” An officer responded and “determined that a group of children was swimming in the back yard and playing their music too loud. Everyone agreed to lower the noise.”

July 21, 2018

  • A caller reported “a dog that has been barking for hours.” An officer responded, but the “dog was not barking upon the officer’s arrival.”
  • A caller “requested a welfare check on his ex-girlfriend.” The caller said “they just broke up, and she just told him that she messed up her life, but at least she knew where the guns were.” Officers responded and made contact with the ex-girlfriend, who said she “was taking the break up hard but doesn’t really want to speak with anyone.” An officer “gave her a Crisis Intervention card.”
  • A caller “requested a welfare check on seven kids and their parents.” The caller believed “the couple was fighting, and it was getting physical.” Officers responded and learned “they did have a fight about chocolate milk about an hour ago,” but “everything appeared to be okay.”
  • A caller reported “a dog left unattended” in a vehicle. An officer responded, located the vehicle and determined “the dog did not appear to be in distress.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “sometime in the last two weeks, someone entered his house and stole a lockbox/safe.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported seeing someone who “looks like someone who was reported missing in Arkansas.” An officer responded and directed the caller to “contact the originating agency and give them the information she has.”
  • A caller reported “a man that’s been sitting on a bike” for “about 20 minutes.” An officer responded but did not find the loitering bicyclist.
  • Domingo Emmanuel Puente del Obre was issued a citation for first-offense loud music.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “requested to talk to an officer about problems with her teenage son.” The woman said “her 16-year-old son was smoking marijuana and disrespecting her.” An officer responded, went to the residence and “spoke with the child,” who “said he isn’t smoking marijuana and said he is treating his mother with respect.” The officer advised the mother “to call when her son is actually smoking so we can do something about it.”
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department came upon “a man and woman arguing.” The officer determined “everything was okay.”

July 22, 2018

  • A caller said “she gave her 16-year-old daughter permission to attend a party in Des Moines with friends” but has been unable to contact her daughter for three hours. The caller said “she was able to track her on Snapchat and will drive to Des Moines to make contact.” An officer responded and advised the caller “to contact the Des Moines Police Department is she needs assistance out there.”
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “found an open door” at a business “while conducting building checks.” The business owner was notified.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller said “a couple of people are loitering in the rear of the building near the laundry room.” An officer responded and learned the suspicious people were “doing laundry.” The caller was informed.
  • Aristeo Diaz, 35, 1424 13th St., Perry, was issued a citation for failure to yield on left turn.
  • A caller said “she recently moved out of her boyfriend’s sister’s residence,” and “now they are saying she took property belonging to them.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said someone was “on his property, has been asked to leave” and “is refusing to do so.” An officer responded and spoke to the caller and “his soon-to-be-ex-wife” and learned that while “moving some furniture” at the residence, “her ex-boyfriend” “showed up and wouldn’t leave.” The officer spoke with someone who said “he didn’t want” someone “picking anything heavy up.”
  • A caller said his dog was lost. The caller called again and said his dog was found.
  • A caller said “someone is operating a motor vehicle on the bike trail.” An officer responded and determined there “was not a car on the bike trail” but only “people with headlamps on their bikes.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
