July 28, 2018

  • A caller said “a stray cat that has been in the neighborhood for over a year” was lost. The caller said “the neighbors all take care of it.”
  • Sheila Case was issued a citation for first-offense dog at large.
  • A caller said her cat was lost.
  • A “caller complained of tall weeds near” the intersection of Iowa Highway 141 and Iowa Highway 144, “making it difficult to see oncoming traffic.” An officer responded and confirmed the obstruction. The Perry Compliance Officer was notified.
  • A caller reported “four kids on the roof of the restrooms at Wiese Park.” An officer responded but “was not able to locate any kids.”
  • A caller “complianed about a neighbor having a loud party.” An officer responded and made contact with the neighbor, who “agreed to turn the music down.”
  • A caller “reported that there was a domestic going on outside of her house.” Officers responded and made contact with the disputants. A man claimed someone “slapped him across the face, and he wanted her charged with assault.” The man “later changed his mind and stated he only wanted” the slapper served with a no-trespass notice. “She was served with a notice.”
  • A caller reported “a group of four males that was being aggressive” toward “two younger kids.” Officers responded and pacified the children. “It was determined that no crimes were committed.”

July 29, 2018

  • A caller said a vehicle “keeps buring its tires and playing loud music, going up and down” the street. Officers responded but did not find the vehicle.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “located an RV with the lights on and a door open.” The officer “checked the camper, and all seemed fine.” The vehicle “was secured.”
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital “requested an officer to respond in regards to a question she had as to what is reportable or not when it comes to a fight.” The caller said she believed a man who was “dropped off outside” the emergency room “was assaulted.” An officer responded and made contact with the man and “all he could remember was going to downtown Des Moines about 8-10 p.m. and then being dropped off at the ER” about 5 a.m. “It was determined the incident occurred in Des Moines.”
  • David Edwards of 614 North St., Perry, was issued a citation for first-offense open burning.
  • A caller reported “something suspicious atthe restrooms at Wiese Park.” Officers responded but were “unable to locate any problems at the park.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “several pills are laying on the ground.” An officer responded “and disposed of the pills.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “his landlord was stealing electricity from his apartment.” The man “was upset” and “said his landlord has a yardlight being powered from his apartment.” The man “wanted to know what he could do about it.” An officer responded and explained “this was a civil matter.”
  • A caller reported “a large amount of broken glass in the street.” An officer responded and found “a small amount of gravel in the roadway” and determined it was “not enough to cause any damage to vehicles.”
  • Allison Louise Moore, 23, 1313 First Ave., Perry, was arrested on charges of domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness and two counts of assault on a peace officer.
  • A caller said “her neighbors in the red house are playing loud music.”
  • A caller said “she was on the bike trail outside Perry” and “could hear people screaming under a bridge.” The caller was transferred to the Dallas County Sheriff’s office. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office called and reported “a male with no shirt screaming at a female.” The caller said the office “had a deputy en route” and asked whether “an officer could respond until then.” Officers responded and made contact with the disputants, who “had a verbal disagreement, and everything was fine.”
  • A caller said “there are two girls that drink and drive with their children in the back.” The caller said “it is something that happens frequently.” Officers were advised.
  • A caller said she tried to “pick up these girls because they said a man was drunk. She went to a residence,” where a man “tried to reach for her and harm her.” The caller “stated she was assaulted.” Officers responded.
  • Charles Andrew Onnen, 22, 2102 First Ave., Perry, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.

July 30, 2018

  • A caller said “that his dog was barkingand that his sister-in-law got up a saw a man standing by the door.” The caller said “the only thing she saw was an African-American.” An officer responded but did not find the man.
  • A caller said “she could see two vehicles at the high school and people trying to get in the doors.” Officers responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
