June 7, 2018

  • A caller reported vadalism at the Violet Hill Cemetery. An officer responded and determined “a top of the stone pillar had been pulled off the pillar and broke apart upon making impact on the ground.”
  • A caller reported an abandoned vehicle “in the middle of the street.” An officer responded and learned the driver “had run out of gas” and “was on her way to get some more.”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department transported the subject of a suicide attempt to the Dallas County Hospital.
  • A caller said “he received a call from someone saying thay are from AT&T” and claiming “to be taking over his current phone company.” The caller said he provided the scam caller with his phone number and mother’s maiden name. The caller said he called AT&T, who “said they have not called him.” An officer responded and “advised him to monitor his information and to call us if he sees anything suspicious.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “requested to talk to an officer” about “theft of her debit card by her daughter.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “wanted information about obtaining a no-contact order.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he hit a deer on Iowa Highway 144 near the Angus Curve. No injuries were reported. The caller was transferred to the Boone County Sheriff’s office.
  • A caller “requested assistance in removing a bat from her residence.” An officer responded but did not find the bat. The officer advised the caller that if the bat were “seen again, to try and keep an eye on it till someone arrived.”
  • A caller said he “heard someone knocking on his window,” and “the noise woke his child up.” Officers responded.

May 8, 2018

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department reported “a dog jumped into his patrol vehicle.” The animal was transported to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • Elaine Marie Norgart, 50, was arrested on a charge of driving while revoked.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
