Perry Police Report March 25-26

March 25, 2018

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and found the “dog was in its own yard.”
  • A caller reported “a tree down in the cemetery blocking the road on Eighth Street.” An officer responded, “located the tree” and “left a voicemail for the Street Department.”
  • A caller reported “broken glass by the back of her ” business. The caller said :she’s concerned people may be squatting” in the “vacant building next door.” An officer responded.
  • Jeremy Lee Benedict, 27, 1215 18th St., #6, Perry, was arrested on charges of interference with official acts, assault on a police officer and obstruction of emergency communications.
  • A caller said “he and his girlfriend” recently “broke up” and now are “having a dispute over the ownership of a Xbox.” An officer responded and told the caller the complaint “is a civil issue and to take the matter to court.”
  • A caller said someone was “using an illegal product called MMA, which is a type of acrylic nail.” An officer responded and directed the caller to “contact the Department of Health.”
  • A caller said his dog was lost. The caller later called and said his dog was found.

March 26, 2018

  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he wanted “a no-contact order” against “his estranged wife’s boyfriend for harassment.” The man said the boyfriend was guilty of “causing him to get burned at work and losing his job for it” and of “also calling the police on him.” An officer responded and told the man that “if he is being harassed or threatened, to call the police.”
  • A caller said “she has a resident on the second floor who appears to be confused.” An officer responded and determined the resident “was confused.” The officer helped the resident “back to her apartment and made contact with her daughter,” who said she “was going to check on her mother.”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught a DARE class at the Perry Elementary School.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with “a bottle of pills that was given to him by” someone. An officer responded and logged the item into evidence.
  • A caller said he was “a victim of a Kum and Go skimmer.” An officer responded and “advised him to bring back his bank statements.”
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department was approached by someone “wanting a no-trespass order placed against her daughter.” The officer responded and “collected a witness statement.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “someone made a purchase at the Walmart in Indianola from his banking account.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “he’s receiving calls from a company he does work for,” but he “thought it sounded like a scam.” An officer responded, determined the calls “sounded like a scam” and advised the caller “not to give them any information or money.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “said she was a victim of the skimmer at Kum and Go north.” An officer responded and “made copies of her paperwork.”
  • A caller said someone called and “asked her questions about her daughter.” The caller said “she only gave him her daughter’s phone number.” An officer responded and advised the caller “to not give out an information in the future.”
  • Corey Scott Hall, 18, 1627 1/2 Willis Ave., Perry, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
