May 1, 2017

  • A Perry Community School District bus driver said a vehicle “went past the school bus while the lights were on and the stop arm was out.” The driver said the “vehicle was driven by a woman, and there were children in the vehicle.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said her dog was lost. A caller from a local retail store said a dog matching the description of the lost dog entered the store and “took a box of chocolate.” The second caller said “they are going to try and contain the dog the next time it comes in.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with “a key he found on his counter about a week ago.” An officer responded, and the key was “placed int evidence.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. Officers were “unavailable due to emergency calls.”
  • A caller said someone was “there causing problems with the landlord.” Officers responded.
  • A caller “requested an officer check on the small dog by the alley.” An officer “responded and left a note for the owner.” Two hours later, a second caller said she was concerned about “the dog being outside, and it is raining.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he caught a “very friendly” dog running at large. The caller said he would “keep her at his house until the owner calls.” The dog’s owner later reported her dog missing and retrieved her dog at the caller’s residence.
  • A caller reported “theft and fraud charges on a company she had agreed to sign a contract with.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported two children standing alongside the road and jumping out in front of cars.” The caller estimated the children to be about 7 years of age. An officer responded, located the children and “spoke with their father, who advised he would take care of the situation.”
  • A caller reported “scavengers going through items and making a mess.” Officers responded.
  • Holly Margaret Meeker, 26, 307 Warford St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of first-offense assault-simple.
  • A 911 caller reported “two kids being lost around 3 to 4 years old.” An officer responded and found the children.
  • A caller said “someone had broken into his house.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her daughter “was refusing to come inside.” An officer responded and found the “teenagers” were “talking about their band teacher moving away.”

May 2, 2017

  • Patti Sue Swanson, 53, 2339 E. 37th Court, Des Moines, was arrested on two Waterloo warrants for failure to appear.
  • Jereme Messner, 31, 812 16th St., Perry, was arrested on a Story County warrant for failure to appear for a failure to pay child support hearing.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
