May 8, 2018

  • A caller said “she smelled burned wire,” and “it is a stronger smell now than last time.” An officer responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was notified.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller requested a welfare check on someone. An officer responded and made contact with the person, who said “she was fine” and “had told her caretaker she would be out of town today.”
  • A caller said “they were receiving messages from” someone “regarding suicide comments.” The caller said the person “just moved to Perry.” A second caller reported communications from the same person “regarding wanting to end his life.” Officers responded but “were unable to locate a good address or location” for the distressed person.
  • A caller said “he wanted to report the theft of a safe and its contents that occurred three years ago.” An officer responded and determined “this is all part of an estate issue and appears to be civil.” The officer advised the caller “to seek assistance from an attorney.”
  • A caller reported finding the “barrel of a BB or pellet gun, a rubber grip and an old cell phone” outside a public building in Perry. An officer responded and received the items, which were “logged in as found property.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • Seth Blitz, 26, 2620 McKinley St., #10, Perry, was arrested on Guthrie County warrants for probation violation on original charges of second-offense domestic abuse assault, third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
  • A caller said “she is in a wheelchair and can’t reach her thermostat.” The caller said she “needs help turning on the air conditioner.” An officer responded.

May 9, 2018

  • Craig Alan White, 46, 1620 Sixth St., Perry, was arrested on a Polk County warrant for parole violation on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. White was also arrested on local charges of third-offense possession of methamphetamine, second-offense possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Sara Jo Smart, 34, 1620 Sixth St., Perry, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
