November 24, 2017

  • A wireless 911 call was received. The caller said “her phone has been acting up,” and she “did not realize she called 911.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone slashed two tires and poured sugar in the gas tank.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a hole and damage done to the front side of” the residence. An officer responded.
  • A caller “wanted to know the weight requirements from a baby seat to a booster seat.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a scooter going west on the eastbound lane of” Iowa Highway 141 at First Avenue. An officer responded but did not find the scooter.
  • A caller said her grandson “was freaking out because this man tried to grab him and hurt him.” The caller said “the man is someone his mom knows.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “his trailer was broken into,” and he “believes someone has been staying there.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone keeps dumping garbage in her yard, and she is tired of it.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported clothing that someone “is selling online that he purchased for his children.” The caller said he “sent his children to their mother, and a few weeks later had observed a pair of the children’s shoes on a swap site for sale.” An officer responded and made contact with “the mother, who stated the shoes were too small for any of the children. Both parties were advised to contact their attorneys.”
  • A caller from a local restaurant reported “five people who are refusing to leave.” Officers responded.
  • Kimberly Marie Sparks, 40, 902 Main St. E., Grand Junction, was arrested on charges of driving under suspension and carrying weapons.
  • Edward Lin Laird, 50, 902 Main St. E., Grand Junction, was arrested on a charge of carrying weapons.
  • A caller said a customer “came up to her and told her that there was someone taking pictures of her little sisters that were there at the time, ages 7 and 12.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she waited five minutes at a stop light, and it did not turn green. An officer responded and found the light in proper working order.

November 25, 2017

  • Johnathon Van Quang, 24, 8017 Ridgeview Dr., Des Moines, was arrested on charges of carrying weapons and possession of marijuana.
  • A caller said her two dogs were lost. A second caller said he caught a dog running at large matching the description of one of the first caller’s dogs. The first caller called again and said one of her dogs was found.

November 26, 2017

  • A caller “reported fighting between a male and a female going on upstairs.” Officers responded and found the couple “arguing over the alarm clock. All okay.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with “a purple paisley suitcase on rollers with a tag showing the owner.” An officer responded and made contact with the owner of the item. The owner said “he was nearly back in Iowa City” but “would return to Perry tomorrow after work and pick up the bag.”
  • A caller reported a suspicious man. An officer responded and made contact with the man, who said “he is a photographer and was taking night shots of the downtown area.” The officer “looked at his photos. All okay.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
