October 12, 2016

  • An officer of the Perry Police Department transported a fourth grader to the Perry Elementary School who “was left by the bus at the high school.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a Social Security card “that was found in the vehicle she just purchased” from a local automobile dealer. An officer responded, and the item was “logged into evidence.”
  • A 16-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of second-degree criminal mischief-reference aiding and abetting.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department “set a trap near the fence between the impound lot and” a local business.
  • A caller said “her vehicle was hit by someone who left the scene.” The caller said she “thinks she has the accident on video.” An officer responded.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department responded to a hang-up 911 call and “confirmed all okay.”
  • A caller said he found an identification card. An officer responded, “picked up the ID card and mailed it to its owner.”
  • A caller said he observed five juvenile males “vandalizing the park area” in downtown Perry. The caller “said the kids kicked a cement ball off a post,” and they “took off running when they saw him.” Officers responded and “spoke to a few juveniles found in the area and gathered information.” The officers “located the broken cement ball and put it back where it had been broken off.”
  • A caller said he caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.

October 13, 2016

  • A caller said he “had a shoplifting incident yesterday.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said she “has been receiving a phone call from the Perry Police Department every two weeks” from a man claiming someone the woman knows “has an outstanding warrant and needs to turn himself in.” Officers responded and determined the woman was a victim of harassment.
  • Maria Fox Caballero of 2628 Taft St. was issued a citation for first-offense nuisance burning.
  • A caller reported “a woman walking on the north side of Iowa Highway 141, carrying several bags.” An officer responded and found the walker was “walking to her sister’s residence west of town.”
  • Huberto Alarcon, 58, was issued a citation for no insurance and failure to yield upon left turn.
  • A caller said “her vehicle was damaged by overspray from the company working on the roof of the Stitches in Time building.” An officer responded and told the caller “it was a civil matter, but she should advise city hall of the issue.”

October 14, 2016

  • Admir Hodzic, 29, 1120 S.E. 11th St., #1210, Grimes, was arrested on a charge of first-offense OWI.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
