October 28, 2016

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and found the dog’s owner caught the dog.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and asked “an officer to come so they could stand by while she gets her belongings from her estranged boyfriend’s residence.” An officer responded and stood by.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a dog he caught running at large between Dallas Center and Grimes. He said he took the dog to an Adel veterinarian who was “unable to read the chip” and “could not treat the dog, nor could they keep the dog since it was located outside the city limits.” He said the Humane Society of Perry “recommended he take the dog to the Animal Rescue League in Des Moines.” An officer responded, and the man decided he “was going to keep the dog for the time being and see if he can find the owner.”
  • A caller reported “a verbal dispute between two tenants in the apartment complex.” An officer responded, “calmed the situation down and advised them to stay away from each other until they have calmed down.”
  • A child caller interpreting for an adult at 802 Sixth St., Perry, said a 4-year-old boy “had his leg stuck in a chain, and it was around his knee.” Officers responded and found the child “was not caught in a chain but was wedged in a V of a tree.” The Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS were paged.
  • A caller said “she parked her vehicle somewhere to take her kids trick or treating,” and “now she can’t find her vehicle” and “isn’t sure where she parked it.” An officer responded and brought the caller to her vehicle.
  • A caller said he was grocery shopping when a 30-year-old man “asked if he was paying cash for his groceries.” The caller said “when he replied, Yes, the man offered to pay for the items with his electronic benefit transfer card in exchange for cash.” The caller said he “wanted officers aware of the incident.”
  • A caller reported “a 31-year-old female client threatening to harm herself with a broken light bulb.” Officers responded and “mobile crisis was contacted.”
  • A 17-year-old female from Ralston, Iowa, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.

October 29, 2016

  • Aaron Reid Emerson, 39, 1602 W. Third St., Perry, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and third-offense possession of marijuana.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he was giving a girl a ride, and she jumped out of his vehicle.” He said “she is injured and just laying on the ground.” Officers responded. Dallas County EMS and Perry First Responders were paged.
  • A caller said “he and his girlfriend” “got into an argument.” The caller said he “just wants to get some of his property and leave the residence,” but the girlfriend “won’t let him into the residence and get his things.” Officers responded and “assisted the male in getting some of his property.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large, “barking and bothering her pets.” An officer responded and found the dog “now was at its own yard.” The officer spoke with the owner of the dog at large, and the owner “took the dog inside.”
  • A caller said “his vehicle was egged while parked outside his residence.”
  • A caller said “he has a bike that was left on his property.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she caught a dog running at large. While an officer was responding, the caller called again and said “the dog owner is now there, and the dog was handed over.”
  • A caller reported a “13-year-old daughter who does not want to go home with her father because she claims he hits her.” An officer responded, and the Iowa Department of Human Services was contacted.
  • A caller said “her vehicle was just egged.” An officer responded.
  • A 911 caller said “she wanted to kill herself.” Officers responded and “transported the female to the Dallas County Hospital.”
  • A caller “was upset because the manager came to her trailer and told her to turn the music down.” The caller said “she didn’t feel she should have to turn the music down because it wasn’t dark.” A dispatcher from the Perry Police Department “attempted to explain to her the music couldn’t be loud at any time.” An officer responded and found “all quiet.”
  • A caller said a man was “checking if the doors were locked” at a local retail business. A second caller said the man “was going through their dumpster.” An officer responded and found the man, who said he was “looking through the dumpster. He was told that he should not be doing that.”
  • A caller reported “his ex-wife not responding to his messages.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a dog she caught running at large. “The owner came to the Perry Police Department and picked the dog up.”
  • Someone entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order to speak with an officer. Officers responded to 802 Sixth St. and found a murder scene. The Dallas County EMS and Perry First Responders were paged. A second ambulance was later paged and Life Flight was called.
  • A caller said “an unwanted woman” was at the caller’s residence. Officers responded and “served a no-trespass notice” to the unwanted woman.
  • A caller said her neighbors “are being loud.” An officer responded and asked the neighbors to turn down the music, and they did.

October 30, 2016

  • A caller said he was a cab driver and “that a male subject took a cab” and “said he didn’t have cash with him and he would be right back.” The cab driver said the lying fare was “now not coming back out.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her “caretaker” “assaulted her last night.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “a kid yelled at him at” a local car wash. “He was very upset.” An officer responded but did not find a yelling kid.
  • A caller said his neighbor “is always watching his children and his wife.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “his ex-girlfriend” was “threatening to destroy his property at her residence.” An officer responded.

October 31, 2016

  • Michael Dean Sheehy, 42, 302 Warford St., Perry, was arrested on a Dallas County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of contraband in a correctional facility.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
