  • A caller “reported smoke coming from the northeast side of the building.” Officers responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged. The fire department was “advised to disregard” the call when officers determined the cause of the caller’s alarm “was a dryer vent.”
  • A caller said her purse was “taken from the church.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “talked to an officer about her cousin’s daughter, who is living with a boyfriend in Des Moines who has substance-abuse issues.” The caller said she was “concerned for her as well as the small child who lives in the home.” An officer responded and discussed “options concerning the situation.”
  • A caller said “she noticed that someone had hit her daughter’s car” because “the vehicle had red paint on it.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said someone “was at a babysitter’s and got bitten by a cat on the top of the head.” An officer responded and determined the “cat was up to date on vaccinations.”
  • A caller said “he has not seen his 14-year-old son,” and he “wanted to report him as a runaway.” An officer responded and located the juvenile, who was “released to the parent.”
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department conducted a funeral escort.
  • A caller said “that her husband is on the phone with a man” whom “their daughter is seeing, and they do not approve because he has another woman and child on the side.” The caller said the man “is threatening to go there, and they keep telling him that their daughter” is “not there.” Officers responded and learned the man “has not been at the residence.” The officers advised the caller and her family to “stay inside” with the “doors locked” and “to call the police department” if the man “shows up.”

  • Citations for first-offense curfew violations were issued to a 12-year-old female from Perry, two 13-year-old females from Perry, two 13-year-old males from Perry and one 14-year-old male from Perry.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
