September 7, 2018

  • A caller said she caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said “she received a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS,” and “she did provide her Social Security number and other information.” The was caller was informed it was a scam phone call and advised “to monitor her credit” and notify the Perry Police Department “if any fraudulent activity is noted.”
  • A bus driver with the Perry Community School District reported a school bus violation. An officer responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department assisted “a stranded semi.”
  •  A caller said his dog was lost. The caller called again and said his dog was found.
  • A caller from rural Boone County said he was “upset that construction workers are on his property without permission.” The call was transferred to the Boone County Sheriff’s office. A second caller said “he is the party working in that field” and “is placing grass around the transformer.” The call was transferred to the Boone County Sheriff’s office.
  • A caller “reported her 14-year-old son” did “not come home from school yet.” An officer responded. The caller later called again and said “her son is with her.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller “reported a cat in her back yard that appears sick and won’t leave.” An officer responded, and the “cat ran off upon the officer’s arrival.”
  • A caller said “his phone has been hacked, and now there is a video of him posted online.” An officer responded and determined the caller “was not hacked,” but “someone was trying to scam him on Facebook.”
  • A caller said “his ex and her boyfriend were knocking on his door.” The caller said “he had asked them to leave, and they had refused.” Then the caller said “they left,” and “he no longer needed an officer to respond.”
  • A caller said “her estranged husband” was “supposed to come and pick up his personal property tonight,” and the caller “didn;t know how long she had to wait for him to show up.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said she saw three people near her residence “who appeared to be looking in garages.” An officer responded.

September 8, 2018

  • A caller said “he found a pipe and a syringe.” Officers responded and “logged the items into evidence.”
  • Kevin Dennis Olson, 50, 608 Seventh Ave., Coon Rapids, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.
  • Florence Louise Purtle, 47, 303 Ilion Ave, #5, Chariton, was arrested on a charge of first-offense public intoxication.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
