The Perry High School Marching Band — known as the Blue Brigade — earned at Division I rating Saturday morning at the All-State Marching Band Festival in Waukee.
It was the first time the PHS Marching Band ever received a I rating in the competition. The Blue Brigade set a new school record with a score of 78.
“They did an awesome job this morning,” said Kimberly Wollesen Herrera of Perry. “So proud of them all and very thankful for the energy, efforts and support given to them all by Mr. Weeks, Leah and Christian.”
The Blue Brigade will continue its Saturday competition in Ankeny in the evening.
