Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 18 at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry for Phyllis A. Zuber, 82, of Perry. Pastor Kevin Vryhof will officiate. Organist will be Mona Holmstrom. Special music selections are “How Great Thou Art” and “Wings of a Snow White Dove.” Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Steve Vodenik, Marty Palmer, Aaron Grove, Michael Fagen, Gary Lorenz and Tim Jeffries. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 17, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Murdock Funeral Home.

Phyllis passed away Monday, March 14, 2016, at her home in Perry.

Phyllis A. Lorenz was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Dagmar, Mont., the daughter of Carl and Gerda (Poulsen) Lorenz.

She graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1950.

On Oct. 21, 1950, she married Robert D. Zuber in Huntsville, Ark.

They moved to Perry from the Fontanelle area in 1958 and eventually purchased the Zuber Whiteway Service Station, which they owned and operated for many years in Perry.

Phyllis loved spending time with her family and friends and her two cats, Whyles and Beep, and all of her grand pets. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting places where she could see eagles and pelicans. She enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts, including quilting and sewing, and she also liked to do gardening.

She is survived by her children, Carla Shriver, Kathy (Steve) Vodenik, Randa (Michael) Fagen and Ron (Tammy) Zuber, all of Perry; her grandchildren, Lisa (Marty Palmer) Ayers, Stacy (Aaron) Grove, Shawn (Giuliana) Vodenik, Kelsey Vodenik, Leah (Tim Jeffries) Zuber and Tyler (Veronica Bouska) Zuber; her nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Norma (Elmer) Voss; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, Jan. 16, 2004; brother, Eugene Lorenz; father- and mother-in-law, John and Fae Zuber; brothers-in-law, Johnny Zuber, Ronald Zuber and Willis Dunn; and sister-in-law, Edith Zuber.

Memorials may be sent to the Perry Humane Society and HCI Hospice Care of Iowa.
