RAGBRAI 2018 route to skirt north of Perry on U.S. Highway 30

The route of the 2018 Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) will skirt past Perry along U.S. Highway 30 this summer, with overnights stops in the central Iowa towns of Jefferson and Ames.

Now in its 46th year, RAGBRAI will start July 22 in Onawa and end July 28 in Davenport, with planned overnights in Denison, Jefferson, Ames, Newton, Sigourney and Iowa City.

The ride will cover 428.1 miles, according to the RAGBRAI website. Registration deadline is Feb. 15.

RAGBRAI was founded in 1973 by two Des Moines Register columnists, Donald Kaul and John Karras. It is now the largest bike-touring event in the world, drawing 10,000 registered riders and many more free riders annually.
