Ray Tice, 88, of Perry passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at the Eden Acres Campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 26 from 2-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry.

Raoul “Ray” Leigh Tice was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Fremont, Iowa, to Theodore Vernon and Pauline Sadie (Stephen) Tice.

He graduated from high school in Searsboro, Iowa.

Ray was united in marriage to Betty Gaynelle King in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on July 10, 1955.

He was part owner of Tice Feed and Grain in Lynnville, Iowa, was the manager at Walnut Grove Feed Store in Perry and drove a semi for Cargill Feed Mill in Ankeny.

Ray was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry.

He enjoyed motorcycles, go-cart racing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In death he rejoins his parents, Theodore and Pauline Tice; aunt, Thelma Heitsman; siblings, Roger (Phyllis) Tice, Bud Tice, Harriet (Ben) Fisk, Jerry Tice and Larry Tice.

Left to cherish Ray’s memory are his wife, Gaynelle Tice; children, Cheri (Kent) Scheib, Tony (Holly) Tice, Nancy Tice and Mike (Joan) Tice; grandchildren, Blake (Jenica) Scheib, Kelli (Jeremy) Petersen, Ian (Katlyn) Tice, Bonnie (Chad) Wright, Megan (Brian) Martin, Molly (Brent) Rowe, Daniel Graney, Emily Tice, Grant Tice and Mason Tice; great-grandchildren, Asher Scheib, Jimmer, Cam and Pierce Petersen, Oliver and Finn Tice, Gabe and Gavin Wright, Michael Martin and Brock, Berkley and Luke Rowe; siblings, Janet Maudlin and Dave (Penny) Tice; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials will be given to Nudgers Inc., 1316 Second St., #C, Perry, IA 50220 and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

  1. My condolences to the Tice family, especially my classmate Cheri. I remember back in the ’70s about a half-dozen guys, including Ray, riding motorcycles to Peoria to the TT cycle races. Ray was on his Gold Wing, and the rest of us were on 750s, getting beat up by the wind. He always had a quick smile and was fun to spend time with. –Randy Hanlon.
