A Redfield woman was arrested Sunday night after allegedly assaulting a Redfield man by striking him in the face with a cellular telephone.
Xena Jane Dueling, 24, of 819 Thomas St., Redfield, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
According to court records, the incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Thomas Street, where Dueling allegedly “did throw her phone at” the male victim and “struck him in the face, causing bruising and a gash near his eye and nose.”
The Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs observed on the victim’s face a “gash” that “was openly bleeding and approximately two inches in length” as well as “swelling all around his cheek bone and an additional cut near his nose,” according to court records.
Dueling is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
