A new digital classroom at the Ankeny campus of the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), made possible by a $97,000 grant from Facebook, was launched this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Participating in the celebration were DMACC President Rob Denson, DMACC Executive Director of Continuing Education Mike Hoffman, Facebook Altoona Campus Site Director Brice Towns and Facebook Community Development Central Regional Manager Matt Sexton.

A plaque was also presented to mark the successful partnership.

The new DMACC digital classroom is designed to support synchronized online learning and is equipped with digital cameras that follow instructors as they teach and cameras and ceiling microphones to capture and record the discussions of students in the room.
