Rose Marie Cosgrove passed from this life peacefully Jan. 23, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 89.

Rose was born May 18, 1927, in Bagley, Iowa.

She united in marriage to James Cosgrove in Cherokee and was blessed with five children, John (Karen) Cosgrove of Austin, Minn., Mike (Judy) Cosgrove of Fort Dodge, her son, David, who preceded her in death, (Katie) Cosgrove of Dubuque, Linda Urelius of Ankeny and Susan Cosgrove of Portland, Ore.

Rose started her career as train master assistant for the Illinois Central Railroad in Cherokee.

After moving to Fort Dodge, Rose worked for Corpus Christi Catholic Church as secretary to the priests.

In 1968 she started to work for Felco/Land O’Lakes and was the first woman to be promoted to management. In 1976 Rose was promoted to manager of the Employee Benefits Department in Minneapolis, Minn.

After retiring from Land O’Lakes, Rose then moved to Perry and started traveling the world, which included being a tour bus guide for Northwest Iowa Travels.

Her last home was at the Lodge of Ashworth in West Des Moines, where she lived for 22 years, enjoying golfing and volunteering at Living History Farms and Iowa Methodist Hospital.

Rose enjoyed her family the most, which included seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Taylor House Hospice for all their care and compassion.

There will be a private family Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House Hospice in loving memory of Rose.
