Visitation for Roy Irvin Essing, 89, of rural Perry will be held from1-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, with family present from 4-6 p.m. at the Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will continue Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry. Burial will take place at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Roy died Sept. 19, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Roy is survived by his son, Bret (Tammy) Essing; daughters, Sherri (Pete) Aiken and Lori (Jamie) Eiteman; grandsons, Jeremy (Yvonne), Josh (Haley), Joel (Lynnette) Lawton; granddaughters, Miranda and Samantha Essing; great-grandsons, Clayton, Justin, Justus, Trenton, Jacob, Nathaniel, Parker, Emmett and Brentley Lawton; great-granddaughter, Addilyn Lawton; great-great-granddaughter, Nova; great-great-grandson, Knoxton; sister, Juanita Hanson; sisters-in-law, Beverly Essing and Susan Kleen; aunt, Dorothy Huston; friend, Mary Lou Runke; and many nieces and nephews.
