A Scooter’s Coffee drive-through store at 401 First Ave. will move a step closer to realization if the Perry City Council approves the project’s site plan at Monday night’s meeting.

The coffee company plans to construct a 664-square-foot, drive-thru-only kiosk on the vacant lot north of the Verizon store and south of the Subway store.

The Perry Planning and Zoning Commission approved the proposed site plan for the store at its July 12 meeting and recommended it to the city council.

The Omaha-based company has more than 300 locations in 20 states, including a corporate office in West Des Moines.

According to the Scooter’s Coffee website, “In 1998, Scooter’s Coffee was born. Co-founders Don and Linda Eckles began an amazing journey when they opened their first drive-through coffeehouse in Bellevue, Nebraska. Their keys to success: find a great location and stay committed to high-quality drinks, speed of service and a big smile. Scooter’s Coffee is fortunate to have over two decades of success due to its commitment to the original business principles and company core values.”
