Scranton man arrested for allegedly raping babysitter

Kaleb Lee Lentz, 28, of Scranton was arrested Thursday on a charge of third-degree sexual abuse.

A Scranton man was arrested on a Greene County warrant Thursday in connection with a June incident in which he allegedly raped a Rockwell City teenager.

Kaleb Lee Lentz, 28, of 600 Lincoln St., Scranton, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse.

According to court records, Lentz allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old female who was babysitting his children while his wife was away. The incident occurred June 8 at Lentz’s Scranton residence.

The victim made contact with law enforcement, and evidence was collected and sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation laboratory.

“The DNA profile developed from the sperm fraction of the vaginal sample matched the known DNA profile of Kaleb Lentz,” according to court records.

A warrant for Lentz’s arrest was ordered Aug. 24 in Greene County District Court and served Aug. 25. Lentz is held in the Greene County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 31 in Greene County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
