According to a statement released Thursday by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, a deputy sheriff stopped a 2017 Toyota 4Runner Saturday morning at the 106 mile marker on U.S. Interstate 80, and a search of the vehicle uncovered 45 pounds of high-grade marijuana.

The vehicle was driven by Alexander Greivell, 22, of Colorado, the statement said. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

Greivell was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and failure to affix an Iowa Drug Tax stamp.

He was transported to the Dallas County Jail. No other arrests are planned at this time, the sheriff’s office said.

  1. Poor dude. Unfortunately, this isn’t Colorado. The laws against marijuana and their enforcement cost more and harm society worse than the weed itself. I haven’t touched the stuff since December 1998. I can personally testify that the worst things pot usually does to folks is to make them overly familiar with their shoestrings and virtually chains them to their refrigerators. Of course, driving or operating machinery while loaded is not good. What stinks here is anyone who has THC in their system at all can be held liable even if they haven’t indulged for weeks. Still and all, indolence is generally the worst effect of marijuana intoxication. No one overdoses on it. Keeping it illegal serves only to fund the criminal underground. Gateway drugs? The first substances that most people flip out on are caffeine and refined sugar from sodas when they’re little. Sugar-coated cereals and grocery-counter candy cause wee ones to tweak.
