The Dallas County Sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the two brutally killed dogs recently found in the Raccoon River.

“We need your help identifying these dogs,” the sheriff’s Facebook statement said. “They were located north of Dawson on March 16. We believe that someone from that area or north of that area placed them in the river.”

Volunteer sandbaggers in Dawson happened to spot the animals on Saturday afternoon, and they were plucked from the flood waters near the bridge over the Raccoon River.

The animals had been shot, and each was placed is a separate garbage bag, according to an eye witness.

“If you recognize these dogs, please contact our office at 515-993-4567,” the sheriff’s statement said.
