Sherri Timm, 60, of Perry died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 610 15th St. in Ames, Iowa. A catered lunch will immediately follow, and everyone is invited to attend. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 24 from 1-7:30 p.m., with family present from 5-7:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Peoples Cemetery in rural Woodward, IA. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames and may be left at the Funeral Home. Sherri Sue (Luett) Timm was born March 16, 1955, at Perry to Laverne J. and Naomi J. (Repp) Luett.

She graduated from Perry High School in 1973.

She continued her education at Grand View College and the University of Northern Iowa, where she played basketball, graduating in 1977 with a degree in education, music and coaching.

She was united in marriage to Randy Timm May 23, 1981. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames.

Sherri taught music and coached girls’ basketball for two years at Meservey-Thornton schools and then taught two years at Colo-Nesco schools as a music teacher.

Sherri was passionate about homeschooling and taught her children through high school.

Sherri was inducted into the Iowa Girls Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980.

Sherri attended the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames.

She loved music, especially playing the piano and organ. She enjoyed gardening, helping teach Bible School, reading, cross stitch, planning family parties, family vacations and traveling. Her most precious time was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sherri was proud to be a homemaker and was passionate about homeschooling.

Sherri was preceded in death by father, Laverne Luett.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Timm of Perry; children, Brian (Beth Cunningham) Timm of Adel, Michelle (Christopher) Stockman of Madison, Wis.; Kevin (Julie) Timm of Waukee; and Julie Timm of Perry; grandchildren, Emilee Stockman, and Gannon Timm; mother, Naomi Luett pf Perry; brother, Gary (Janet) Luett of Perry; nieces, Nicole and Cybil Luett; and her dog, Coco.
