Sidney “Sid” Cox, 79, of Ankeny passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at the MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Care in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 23 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenbrier Township Cemetery in rural Bagley.

Sidney “Sid” Clair Cox was born Jan. 11, 1940, in Ogden, Iowa, to Ervin Fletcher and Bernice Ina (Delaplain) Cox.
He was baptised in the Bagley Methodist Church.
He attended Bagley High School.
Sidney was united in marriage to Linda Lou May Oct. 21, 1961, at the Bagley United Methodist Church, celebrating 57 years of marriage.
He drove truck for PTI Trucking in Perry, Foxworth Galbraith in Phoenix, Ariz., and Panora Farmers Coop.
Sid was a member of the Bagley United Methodist Church and the Panora and Bagley Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed doing yard work and traveling to Arizona in the winters and taking “road trips” around Iowa with his wife, and he loved a casino or two.
Sid also loved driving around and surveying the countryside.
Sid loved his Iowa State Cyclones and spending time with his family. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Gramps.”
In death he rejoins his parents, Ervin and Bernice; and an infant sister, Ina Cox.
Left to cherish Sid’s memory are his wife, Linda, of Ankeny; children, Jeffery (Traci) Cox of Fredericksburg, Va., and Darin (Stacy) Cox of Ankeny; grandchildren, Kory, Kiel (Lisa), Carson, McKenna, Cooper and Quinn; step-grandchild, Austin; a great-grandson expected in January 2020; sister, Erva Lu Hutchings of Boone; nephew, David of Boxholm; nieces, Rheanne of Boone and and Lynette of Boone; and a past daughter-in-law, BeKay Fields.
