A controlled burn of farm fields along Iowa Highway 141 south of Jamaica raised a large cloud of smoke at dusk Wednesday evening.
Firefighters with the Jamaica Volunteer Fire Department managed the blaze, which blackened about 70 acres of farm ground owned by Michael and Gretchen Tighe, according to Guthrie County records.
