Once snowfall reaches one-half inch or more, the city of Perry snow ordinance is activated.

Dallas County is under a Winter Storm Warning from 2 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday, with accumulations from 5 to 9 inches expected and blowing winds to likely make travel hazardous.

Once snowfall reaches one-half inch or more, the city snow ordinance takes effect .

According to the ordinance, no vehicle may be parked, abandoned or left unattended on any public street, alley or city-owned parking lot during a snow emergency unless the snow has been plowed from the area and the snow has stopped.

Once activated, the snow ordinance parking ban remains in effect until 48 hours after the end of the storm.

Property owners in the residential district must clear sidewalks of snow, ice or accumulations within 48 hours of the end of the storm, and property owners in the business district must clear sidewalks of snow, ice or accumulations within 12 hours of the end of the storm.

If sidewalks are not cleared within the specified time, the city of Perry may perform the work and assess the costs against the property owners for collection in the same manner as property tax.

For more information, call the Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481.
