The National Weather Service office in Des Moines has issued a wind advisory for the Perry area in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday.

Westerly winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph are expected over central, southern and eastern Iowa, with peak winds midday Sunday. An initial surge of strong winds is expected shortly after midnight as a cold front moves through the area, and occasional stronger gusts will continue through the day on Sunday.

The gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and small tree limbs could be blown down. Travel may be difficult for high-profile vehicles.
